Some quick and handy tips for XP

  1. On Screen Keyboard
    Want to use an on screen keyboard? Well it is this simple - Click on the start button and select run. Then type in osk in the box and click OK.

  2. Make 'My Computer' open in Explore mode with folder list
    In My Computer click Tools menu, and then click Options. Click the File Types tab.In the list of file types, highlight "(NONE) Folders". Click Advanced button, In the Actions box, highlight "Explore", Click "Set Default"

  3. Enable / Disable Firewall
    Open Control Panel and double click on Network Connections. In the new box that appears right click on the Connection and click on the Advanced tab. Check or uncheck the box according to your desire.

  4. Clear Page file on shutdown
    Go to Control Panel, Administrative tools, Local Security Policy. Then goto Local Policies, Security Options.
    Then change the option for "Shutdown: Clear Virtual Memory Pagefile"

  5. Adjust various visual effects
    Open up the Control Panel. Go under System and click on the Advanced tab, click Settings under Performance options. You can now change various graphical effects (mainly animations and shadows)
